Lazio/Umbria/Abruzzo/Marche are some of Italy's most visited regions and the main targets for Ecotourism. This area is known for its picturesque landscapes, wild nature and attracts tourists from all over the world. The National Park of Abruzzo it has even been recognized as a World Heritage Site protected by Unesco. These are five nuclei of ancient beech woods that have more than 5 centuries of life. Campo Imperatore represents one of the most incredible landscapes in Italy.
Summer Weather in, Abruzzo The Gran Sasso of Italy is the highest mountain massif of the Apennines and of peninsular Italy, and reaches 2,912 meters (9,554 ft) in the Corno Grande. In a basin to the north of the summit, above 2,650 metres (8,695 ft), is the small Calderone glacier, the only Apennine glacier and one of the southernmost in Europe, which, however, is disappearing due to global warming.
In Campo Imperatore, located at 2,140 meters (7,021 ft) on the southern slope of the Gran Sasso, the daily average drops below freezing from December to March, while in July and August it is 12/13 °C (54/55 °F).
ELEVATION TRAIL RUNNING HOLIDAY IN ITALY
Our adventurous & authentic Elevation Trail Running Holiday in Central Italy Lazio / Umbria / Abruzzo / Marche consists of strengthening Trail Running, coffee & farm-to-table food, Country-side driving / medieval walks, exploring Roman ruins, relax by the pool. The 4 or 5 days consists of relaxing in nature, meet the locals, learn local art & culture and enjoy the great views. We run in the morning, we lunch at a delicious and unique location, we then get back to our local accommodation to rest and shower. To then live and experience the surroundings and villages.
The retreat is for you who want to do high altitude runs. We will be running between 1000m to 3000m altitude. We stay at 2 different location in the Apennine Mountain Range, which is 1.5 hours drive from Rome’s Airport. The Abruzzo area is indulged with mountains, lakes and the forest. We sleep at Local Agriturismo and an ex-monastery from year 1480, practice Trail Running in the forest and Apennines mountains.
Following the success of the Hike and Run Holiday in the past we are offering a shorter version of the course or departing at an earlier time, with an accompanied second guide to all enjoy the great training options that Italy has to offer.

DAY 1 - Wednesday 28
10.30am we'll meet you at Fiumicino (Leonardo) Airport
11:30 PM, we'll drive to Villa Panphilj Park where we'll enjoy a coffee and panino and to plan our run/hike, taking into account the various sights along our route.
12.30 PM, we'll embark on a 10 to 14km run/hike, beginning by traversing the park, including a 3-kilometer off-road section. We'll continue our way towards Gianicolo, Trastevere, Circo Massimo, Colosseo, Fori Imperiali Romani, Piazza Venezia, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Castel Sant'Angelo, San Pietro Vatican, and Piazza Risorgimento. Bring a hat!
3.30pm We drive to check in https://roma.huopenair.com/ and splash at the pool! (1 night)
7pm, dinner at Trastevere zone or near the accommodation.
DAY 2 - Thursday 29
8:15 AM, we'll drive to Monte Terminillo at 1820m. About 1.40hrs drive.
10:20 AM, we'll embark on a 20km with 805m+ run/hike to Leonessa
1.00 PM we'll Check in and have lunch at Agriturismo Montebello Agriturismo Casale Montebello – Monteleone di Spoleto (PG). (1 nights)
5:30 PM, we'll enjoy a welcome prosecco at Monteleone di Spoleto.
7:30 PM, dinner will be served at Agriturismo Montebello, by the pool.
DAY 3 - Friday 30
Optional morning run/hike 3-5 km with bathing in the see before breakfast - with Jørn.
8:15 AM, we'll transport to Castelluccio and Monte Vettore at 2500m, featuring short medium and long runs/hikes/ultra and steep hills.
1:00 PM, we'll have lunch at Castelluccio.
3:00 PM, Back to accommodation for a splash in the pool and check out
5:00 PM Transport to new accommodation, 2hrs drive and check in http://www.conventodisancolombo.it/ (2 nights)
7:00 PM, dinner will be served at our accommodation.
DAY 4 - Saturday 31
Optional morning run/hike 3-5 km with bathing in the see before breakfast - with Jørn.
8:00 AM, Breakfast
9:30 AM, we'll embark on a run/hike from Campo Imperatore, covering a 14km Trail Run or Hike with amazing views of Campo Imperatore plateau 1200m+ elevation gain.
1:30 PM, Lunch will be at Santo Stefano, Cuore Nero d’Abruzzo.
3.00 PM Back to accommodation for a shower.
4.30 Coffee or Apertive at Rocca Calascio. Amazing medieval fortress.
7:00 PM, Dinner at our Accommodation Optional
DAY 5 - Sunday 1
Optional morning run/hike 3-5 km with bathing in the see before breakfast - with Jørn.
8:00 AM, Breakfast.
8:15 AM, we'll transport to Ristoro Mucciante, covering a 6.5km Trail Run or Hike towards Monte Camicia to then start our longer run of 10 / 13 or 17km.
12:30 PM, lunch will be BBQ style at Ristoro Mucciante.
2:00 PM, Back to Accommodation in Convento S Colombo and to shower and check out.
3:00 PM drive 2.20hrs to Fiumicino Airport.
